Here she is . . .10 years ago!
I'm a little late on this post, but 10 years ago on January 20th God granted us a gift in the form of this precious baby girl!
I tell her frequently that she will not understand for a long time how much we love her! But, I do hope she understands that her dad and I consider her a gift,
an undeserved, unmerited package from the Most High.
She has been used by our Father to teach us many things. . .
1. How much He loves us. If this is "unperfect" love, how much more is perfect love?
2. How little patience we had before her, and how much more we need after her! Which attests to how long-suffering He is with me! WOW!
3. How God is unconditional in His love (which is why we ask our kids frequently, "What could you do to make us not love you?" To which we hear, "NOTHING!")
4. How perfect God's timing is!
5. How God hears and provides!
6. How when we "cry out", He RUNS to us!
7. How when we are scared, He hides us beneath the shadow of His wings!
8. How sometimes love hurts. . .
9. How love grows deeper the more years you are together and the more time spent with one another
10. How He never tires of hearing us call His name! It is the small voice of a child looking into the loving eyes of a Father, and saying, "I love you Daddy!"
It doesn't get better than that!
We hope she does understand soon the miracle that she was to us!
Before her, we were active youth pastors. . .
not sure we wanted our own children. . .
happy to "adopt" others' children. . .
but one day, a simple prayer,
"Lord you know me better than I know myself. If we will regret this choice, please change our hearts."
He did, but you didn't come.
It was His timing, not ours.
After a year and a half, loads of tears, anxiety galore, surgery, shots, a prescription for medication (which remained in the kitchen drawer), and, finally, humbling ourselves to being prayed over, He answered, and it was you!
We will never forget this blessing! You were loved before you were here, and you will be loved eternally!
Although times might get rocky, muddy, downright messy. . .
REMEMBER
What can cause us to not love you?
NOTHING!
NOTHING!
Love you sweet pea!
Happy Birthday!
